This web site is the fulfillment of the Independent Mapping Project in the GIS - Cartographic Specialist post-grad program at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada.  All material found here was created by Chris Jongkind, with the exception of a few of the train images.

It is not intended to be a cohesive public transit hub, rather a showcase of both the possibilities within transportation mapping, and of my technical skills in web design, cartographic concepts, and spatial perception.  Academic completion of the project was August 2005, though I may still add to it as I pick up more Flash knowledge and have spare time to integrate it. Official validity of the map is to January 2006, which excludes the Yurikamome extension to Toyosu and the Line 13 extension from Ikebukuro to Shibuya.

Given more time, additional possibilities in public transit mapping include...
· Accessibility and address information for each station.
· Schedule and fare information for each route.
· Flash enlargements of routes from the Flash Systems or Routes pages.
· Area maps of major or all stations.
· A station finding function based on user input location.
· With some advanced GIS capability, a route finder based on distance, time, cost, or a combination.

The technologies used for this project include Adobe Illustrator (schematic and map), Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver, JavaScript, and HTML.
